Qatar National Day is celebrated annually on December 18, the day is national commemoration of Qatar’s unification in 1878. The holiday was established by a 21st June 2007 Amiri decree of the then Crown Prince and Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.  December 18 was declared as a public holiday and also this is also known as Founding Day.

On 18 December 1878, Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani succeeded his father Mohammed bin Thani as ruler of the Qatari Peninsula. He is deemed to have unified all the local tribes by combating external forces, such as the British.

Prior to the Emiri decree in June 2007, Qatar National Day was annually celebrated on 3 September, the day of Qatar’s independence. Qatar was under the British protectorate in between 1916 to 1871

Qatar declared its independence from British protectorate on 1 September 1971 and became an independent state on 3 September.

Each of us will have a unique experience to share with Qatar. We are not Qataris, we live here but there is an emotional connection between us and Qatar.

Now Qatar is our home. We love it, we accept it, we grow with it, and most importantly, and we are involved in it.

ഡിസംബർ 18 – ഖത്തർ ദേശീയ ദിനം

ഖത്തർ ദേശീയ ദിനം വർഷം തോറും ഡിസംബർ 18 നാണ് ആഘോഷിക്കുന്നത്, 1878 ൽ ഖത്തറിന്റെ ഏകീകരണത്തിന്റെ ദേശീയ സ്മരണയാണ് ഈ ദിനം. 2007 ജൂൺ 21 ന് അന്നത്തെ കിരീടാവകാശിയും ഇപ്പാഴത്തെ ഭരണാധികാരിയുമായ ഷെയ്ഖ് തമീം ബിൻ ഹമദ് അൽ താനിയുടെതായ അമീരി ഉത്തരവു പ്രകാരം ഡിസംബർ 18 പൊതു അവധി ദിനമായി പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചു, ഇതിനെ സ്ഥാപക ദിനം എന്നും വിളിക്കുന്നു.

1878 ഡിസംബർ 18 ന് ജാസിം ബിൻ മുഹമ്മദ് അൽ താനി, പിതാവ് മുഹമ്മദ് ബിൻ താനിയുടെ പിൻഗാമിയായി ഖത്തർ ഉപദ്വീപിന്റെ ഭരണാധികാരിയായി. ബ്രിട്ടീഷുകാരെപ്പോലുള്ള ബാഹ്യശക്തികളെ നേരിടുന്നതിന് എല്ലാ പ്രാദേശിക ഗോത്രങ്ങളെയും അദ്ദേഹം ഏകീകരിച്ചു ഒരുമിച്ചു നിർത്തി.

2007 ജൂണിലെ എമിരി ഉത്തരവിന് മുമ്പ് ഖത്തർ സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യദിനമായ സെപ്റ്റംബർ 3 നാണ് ഖത്തർ ദേശീയ ദിനം ആഘോഷിച്ചിരുന്നത്.

ഓട്ടോമാൻ ഭരണകാലത്തത്തുടർന്ന് 1916 നും 1871 നും ഇടയിൽ ഖത്തർ ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് സംരക്ഷണത്തിന്റെ കീഴിലായിരുന്നു. 1971 സെപ്റ്റംബർ 1 ന് ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് ഭരണാധിപത്യത്തിൽ നിന്ന് ഖത്തർ സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യം പ്രഖ്യാപിക്കുകയും സെപ്റ്റംബർ 3 ന് ഒരു സ്വതന്ത്ര രാജ്യമായി മാറുകയും ചെയ്തു.

നമ്മിൽ ഓരോരുത്തർക്കും ഖത്തറുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട് ഒരു പ്രത്യേക അനുഭവം പങ്കിടാനുണ്ടാവും. നമ്മൾ ഖത്തറിയല്ല, ഇവിടുത്തെ  താമസക്കാരാണ് പക്ഷെ നമ്മളും ഖത്തറും തമ്മിൽ ഒരു വൈകാരിക ബന്ധം നിലനിൽക്കുന്നുണ്ട്.

ഇപ്പോൾ ഖത്തർ നമ്മുടെ വീടാണ്. നമ്മൾ ഇത് ഇഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്നു, നമ്മൾ അത് സ്വീകരിക്കുന്നു, അതിനൊപ്പം വളരുന്നു, ഏറ്റവും പ്രധാനമായി, നമ്മൾ ഇതിൽ ഉൾപ്പെടുന്നു.
